  My experience of physical change

I personally went through a metamorphosis after I gave birth to my first girl! Did I fret? Well… honestly, I did for a while, but then, pleasures of motherhood soon clouded those blues away and breastfeeding helped me lose weight overall and my tummy was toned back to its almost original state. So ladies, breastfeed and breastfeed some more! However water retention did the most damage by leaving flabs under the arms and torso for me.

Nevertheless, with a few workouts carrying the growing child and grocery bags, I became more toned… swimming also does wonders! If you like dancing and can afford time enrolling with an aerobic class, go ahead and pamper yourself! After all, exercise releases the endorphins, ( the feel good hormones ) and you need just an hour break from the tiny ones to get refreshed and to take on motherhood again!

Some women lose the flabs much faster than others. We are all made differently and we are all wonderfully made, so flaunt what you have and creatively “hide” what you wish not to have by dressing right!.

The body shape and apparel ( taken and adapted from www.dressmenow.com )

No matter what image you choose to present, if you're not dressing for your body shape, you are missing your mark. We're positive that no matter how you see yourself -- trendy, corporate or casual -- your ultimate goal is to look "together". But if you have prominent hips and you wear hip-huggers or if you're rail thin and you wear pinstripes, "together" is not the first word that comes to mind. Who wants to be upstaged by their body parts anyway?

Once you determine your body shape, you can easily answer the wardrobe questions that have plagued you for a long time. You will find out why you wear some clothes more than others. And why some things just don't look right any more.

Wide on the bottom
VENUS DE MILO
Michaelangelo's Armless Beauty
Narrow Top/Full Bottom

Draw the eye up with accessories and keep all details away from the hip area (i.e. buttons, ornaments, jacket hemlines and trim). Don't cinch anything at the waist or tuck in tops. Tunics are great! Lengthen the body with longer hemlines but not too much flare. Try monochromatic dressing, shoulder pads, sleek high heels instead of clunky footwear.

Wide on Top
CLEOPATRA
An Egyptian Queen with a Taste for italian
Full Top/Narrow Bottom

f the fullness you carry on top is unwanted (some do pay for it, you know) turn the area into a "no man's land". Nothing should cause the eye to linger around that area, like big lapels, short sleeves, big belts, tucked in tops etc. Think of drawing the eye downwards with duster-length jackets or skirts and pants with interesting details.

EVE

Eve should be careful of adding bulk to either the bottom or top. Just accentuate the positive. Think shirt-waist dresses, tailored jackets, tucked in tops. Be careful when dressing for work - a shapely body can be a distraction and detrimental to a legitimate rise to the top.

The Slender

Narrow/Top to Bottom

Your mission (should you decide to accept it) is to add dimension to your profile. Tailored clothing will hug the body too much. Think unstructured tops and pants. Bulky sweaters or baggy pants could be fun. Try anything with horizontal detail from patterns in clothing to the hemlines of blouses and jackets such as stripes and huge florals and bold colours.

Wide from top to bottom
CATHERINE THE GREAT
Full Bodied Russian Royal and Horse Lover
Wide Torso/No Waist

For this body type, shape and color is important. Colors should be muted, monochromatic is best and prints should be kept to a minimum. Avoid clothes with pleats or gathers and jackets that stop anywhere from navel to hips. Buy maxi length blouses, vests, or duster coats that you can wear open over your clothes Accessories are your friends Wear scarves and jewelry that draw the eye to the top or center of the torso. A word of warning: today's clunky shoes are not for you.

Whatever your body shape, the best tip is still to dress sensibly and balance it with your personality. If you dress otherwise, you feel conscious and your self esteem may be affected so pick the right outfits and accessorize appropriately.

Remember that when you breastfeed over a long period of time, your breast size change accordingly to your baby’s appetite for breastmilk so change in appearance over the chest area can be “corrected” by wearing the right accessories or topping off with a shawl or a scarf.
